The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether using the context for guessing the meaning of new vocabulary can solve this problem. The learning of vocabulary is an important part of foreign language learning. The meaning of new words is very frequently emphasized, whether in books or verbal communication. Unit 7 Vocabulary, grammar and functions I like this point: “There are four things that students need to do with new language: be exposed to do it, understand its meaning, understand how it’s constructed and be able to practice and produce it.” I absolutely agree that a learner’s receptive vocabulary is much larger than his or her productive vocabulary.
