Unit 7 Vocabulary, grammar and functions I like this point: “There are four things that students need to do with new language: be exposed to do it, understand its meaning, understand how it’s constructed and be able to practice and produce it.” I absolutely agree that a learner’s receptive vocabulary is much larger than his or her productive vocabulary. This is because they are excellent at providing a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere in the classroom. This helps in encouraging beginning students to participate.
