TEFL 120-hour Course - Unit 11

In this TEFL video journal entry, Chantelle talks about unit 11 of her online course. Unit 11 deals with the two receptive skills reading and listening. The unit discusses the different reasons we have for reading or listening and outlines the different ways we do this such as skimming, scanning etc. The unit also outlines ways to overcome problems students may have with reading and listening and provides a sample receptive skills lesson plan.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

This unit which is about past tenses and their usages was helpful for me to broaden my grammatical knowledge. The teaching techniques described here will be instrumental in delivering the usual 'boring' grammar lessons in an attractive way. I now fluently understand the different situations/scenarios which can be expressed via past tense in English language. There are many things to consider when teaching a variety of students and it is interesting to read about what to do for business English students - like the needs based test. I think it is very true that multi-lingual classes are good for English learning as the only common ground the students have is English, therefore making them speak it to make friends.
