CELTA

CELTA is an internationally recognized teaching qualification in the field of teaching English as a foreign or second language. The course is aimed at potential teachers with little or no experience inside a classroom. CELTA courses can be studied in a number of locations around the world and are individually designed and organized by different language institutes. Although there may be some variety between individual courses, the fundamental specifics of the course are dictated by Cambridge ESOL, part of the University of Cambridge.

This unit focuses on pronunciation. I definitely became more aware of how stresses work in sentences and the importance of intonation in conveying nuance and meaning in a sentence. I also learned more about the logistics of pronunciation, specifically about phonemes, phonemic symbols, articulation, the places of articulation, and the manners of articulation.The importance of planning for lessons or for a series of lessons is explained so that a working document is created which records what is taught whilst detailing the logical sequence of the lesson/s. It is also important in the vent that another teacher needs to cover for the you. Ideas for lesson plans, the sequencing thereof and materials were provided.
