Situated in the east of Uzbekistan, Tashkent is the country’s capital as well as its largest city. It is also the Central Asia region’s most populated city with a population of about two and a half million people. The city was made the capital of the country when Uzbekistan gained independence after the collapse of the USSR in 1991.
Tashkent is an incredibly interesting and ever-changing city where the long history and rich Uzbek culture can be seen in the city’s fascinating architecture, particularly the exhibition halls and metro stations. One of the most effective ways to experience the way of life in Tashkent is to pay a visit to one of the many local markets which serve as social centers for the local population.
Tashkent’s nightlife is ever developing and you can find the best clubs, restaurants and teahouses in the city. The cuisine in Uzbekistan is mostly made up of bread and noodles with mutton being the main meat due to the large number of sheep in the country. Tea is incredibly popular in Uzbekistan and green tea is the national hot drink but black tea is preferred in Tashkent.
The city is home to an excellent transportation network that makes it possible to get all over the city from morning until night. Tashkent’s metro system is the most convenient way to get about town and is in service from 5 a.m. 12 a.m.
The city’s history can be traced back 2,200 years and encompasses the Islamic civilization, the Mongol conquest as well as Tsarist and Soviet Russia. Tashkent used to be an important travel and trade center on the Silk Road because of its favorable location and mild climate.
Tashkent’s tourist destinations include Hazrati-Imam Square which is in the historical section of the city. The Baraq-Khan Madrassah and Tilla-Shaykh Mosques, the Mausoleum of the famous Islamic scholar Abu Bakr Qaffal Shashi, and The Imam al-Bukhari Islamic Institute can also be found and enjoyed in Tashkent. Additionally, the Tashkent Television Tower, at 375 meters high, is the 11th tallest tower in the world.
Tashkent’s important architectural and historical value spans its fascinating history including ancient settlements, medieval buildings, Soviet era buildings, and the modern luxury apartments and business centers of today. These days, there are two international airports and a railway station and one of the city’s main attractions is its underground system, with its uniquely designed stations.

The School
ITTT’s Tashkent TEFL training school is situated close to the center of the city. The school houses up-to-date learning zones and leisure and social spaces used for delivering lessons. Course participants can study in one of our modern air-conditioned classrooms with interactive whiteboards. There is also a learning center furnished with all the teaching resources you could need. Additionally, our Students Services team is here to help with anything trainees need during their stay.
All our TEFL trainers are highly-experienced and internationally qualified instructors who will do all they can to help course participants become confident and competent English teachers. All of our course instructors are DELTA and CELTA/TESOL certified with plenty of practical experience teaching English. Throughout the course, participants will focus on improving practical teaching skills with face-to-face practice, which provides trainees with the methods and self-confidence they need to start their teaching career.
Accommodation
You will have a number of different accommodation options available to you including hotels and hostels. All the options are within walking distance of the TEFL school.
